Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA Key Developments
Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA Announces Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year of 2013
Mar 6 14
Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA announced earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2013. The fourth-quarter revenues of the company were down 10% year-on-year to EUR 1.24 billion, which the company attributed to intense competition in the sector and the lingering effects of cuts to mobile termination rates (MTR). Excluding the MTR impact, revenues declined 5% year-on-year. EBITDA fell 3% to EUR 500 million, mainly due to cost saving measures, but the operator's EBITDA margin improved 2.9% to 40.4%. Fourth-quarter CAPEX dropped to EUR 291 million from EUR 342 million a year earlier, which the company blamed on continued investment in the roll out of HSPA+ and backbone capacity to support data growth.
The full year results saw revenues decrease 8% to EUR 5 billion, again due to MTR cuts and severe price competition, especially during the summer campaigns, while EBITDA dropped 6% to EUR 1.9 billion.
