Peterbilt Motors Company introduced an all-new Model 220 to its medium-duty COE lineup that features numerous interior and exterior enhancements to increase driver productivity, safety and durability. Additionally, the new product will be equipped with a new electronic braking system (EBS) that provides quicker responsiveness and an improved braking feel. The company announced the enhancements during the Mid-America Trucking Show. The all-new cab features a completely redesigned interior that was engineered to give operators unparalleled levels of productivity and comfort. The new curved dashboard features easy-to-read instrumentation and an interactive, 5-inch color display module that provides information on vehicle and driver performance. The Model 220 will remain standard with numerous driver-pleasing features, including: power windows, locks and mirrors; air-ride driver's seat; and air conditioning. It is also available with a passenger-side air-ride seat or fixed two-man bench to accommodate three people in the cab. The new cabs are designed for durability to withstand harsh, urban operating environments. For instance, the new bumper is manufactured from galvanized steel, there's a new radiator protection plate and the headlamps are protected by a tough Lexan covering.

Peterbilt Motors Company announced a new optimized drivetrain package for its already fuel-efficient leader, the aerodynamic Model 579, that brings even greater levels of fuel economy, the company announced during the Mid-America Trucking Show. Called APEX, the new spec option pairs the PACCAR MX-13 Engine with the Fuller Advantage Automated Transmission. The combination features optimized shift calibration, weight savings and proprietary control logic between the two components. APEX is available now available for order through the Peterbilt dealer network. APEX can result in up to a 4% improvement in fuel efficiency versus previous drivetrains. Superior fuel economy is achieved through the precise fuel management resulting from proprietary communication technology. The 12.9 liter PACCAR MX-13 Engine and the 13-speed Fuller Advantage share critical data including torque, operating gear and other vehicle performance metrics. Additionally, APEX is more than 80 pounds lighter than previous combinations and features a small-step ratio in 9(th) and 10(th) gears for a more fuel efficient operating range while downshifting. The PACCAR MX-13 Engine is available with 380 to 500 horsepower and up to 1,850 ft-lb of torque.

Peterbilt Motors Company announced that it has launched a new special Model 579 that features unique interior and exterior styling and exclusive content, in celebration of its 75(th) anniversary. The Model 579 75(th) Anniversary Edition -- which is now available for order. Highlights of the new vehicle include bright accessories, a two-color paint design similar to the original 1939 Peterbilt (as well as the 50(th) anniversary edition Peterbilt), and a premium interior with exclusive logos and a unique numbered nameplate. Anniversary Edition Exterior Features: Sproull said exterior features of the special edition model include: A complete bright package, reminiscent of Peterbilt's show truck heritage, includes bright outside sunvisor, rear view mirror housing and three-piece steel bumper with chrome finish. -- A highly polished hood crown that surrounds a new oval grille design. -- Exclusive 75th anniversary emblems on the sleeper, side hood bright air intake bezel and new bright rocker panels. -- A new optional 75th anniversary two-color paint design. A new proprietary color called Diamond Red was introduced for this model. -- Rear stainless steel mudflap hangers with anniversary emblem. Anniversary Edition Interior Features: -- Peterbilt's premium Platinum Titanium interior accentuated with a new charcoal dash top and Blackwood finish trim accents. The Blackwood trim accents provide a uniform flow across the door pads and onto the sleeper cabinets while distinct carpet lines the spacious cab and sleeper floor. -- A sequentially numbered 75th anniversary emblem is added to the dash accent trim. -- The multi-function steering wheel is lined with custom red stitching. -- Exclusive Peterbilt Evolution LX seats in black leather to complement the interior and boasts the 75th emblem stitched into the headrest. -- Bright gauge bezels, chrome interior handle, bright logo'd shifter plate and bright shift lever featuring a Blackwood finish shifter knob (available only with manual transmissions).
