The State Government has approved the appointment of Alan Mulgrew as the new chairman of the Western Power Corporation. Energy Minister Peter Collier has welcomed the appointment, acknowledging Mr. Mulgrew's vast experience in a multitude of major industry sectors, including energy; major infrastructure; and transport and construction. Mr. Mulgrew offers substantial levels of expertise across a range of areas that will be major assets as Western Power continues the significant process of change undertaken since the Liberal-National Government took office. He is a natural leader who has demonstrated an intelligent, commonsense approach to business, in Australia and overseas, across many senior board and corporate positions. Mr. Mulgrew has extensive knowledge of Western Australia's energy requirements, having previously held a position on the Western Power board. Mr. Mulgrew currently sits on the boards of Doric Group Pty Ltd; Adelaide Airport Ltd; and Tesla Corporation Pty Ltd. He is a former chairman of Tourism Western Australia and Australian Renewable Fuels. His appointment follows the resignation of former Western Power chairman Mark Barnaba. The board announced Paul Italiano had been appointed as Western Power CEO.
