American Academy of Family Physicians Appoints Bellinda Schoof as Division Director of Health of the Public and Science

The American Academy of Family Physicians has named Bellinda Schoof, MHA, CPHQ, its new Division Director of Health of the Public and Science. In her new role, Schoof is responsible in part for overseeing the organization's development of evidence-based clinical guidelines, recommendations for preventive services and policies related to health of the general public. The division also administers programs designed to reduce tobacco use and obesity and increase exercise, and oversees the National Research Network. Prior to her promotion, Schoof served Clinical Policies Manager in the division. She first came to the AAFP in 1998, having previously worked as director of the Health Care Quality Improvement Program at the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care.

American Academy of Family Physicians Heather Anne Leith, J.D., as General Counsel

The American Academy of Family Physicians announced that Heather Anne Leith, J.D., has joined the AAFP as general counsel. Leith is responsible for the management of the AAFP's legal operations, including advising the board of directors and staff on legal issues, contract negotiation and review, intellectual property licensing, human resources, legal compliance, litigation and general corporate matters. Before coming to the AAFP, Leith served as assistant general counsel at Hallmark Cards Inc. Prior to that, she was law clerk to the Honorable Kathryn H.Vratil at the United States District Court, District of Kansas, Kansas City, Kan.

American Academy of Family Physicians Appoints Dale Culver as CFO and Vice President or Financial and Administrative Services

The American Academy of Family Physicians hired Dale Culver to serve as the organization's new CFO and vice president for financial and administrative services. Previously, Culver served as vice president for finance and administrative services at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. He has also worked as vice president for operations and finance at the PKD Foundation and as commissioner of accounts for the city of Kansas City, Mo.
