Company Overview

As of November 1997, Signet Banking Corporation was acquired by First Union Corporation. Signet Banking Corporation, prior to the acquisition, was engaged in general commercial and consumer banking businesses through its principal subsidiary, Signet Bank. It also provided a range of financial services to individuals, businesses, and organizations. The Bank’s primary market area for its traditional banking business extended from Baltimore to Washington, south to Richmond, and on to Hampton Roads/Tidewater, Virginia.
