GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. announced the retirement of James J. Devine, President & CEO of GCT USA, at the end of June. Devine's retirement brings a distinguished 13-year tenure with GCT to a close, where he was instrumental in revitalizing the US operations. The company also announced the appointment of John Atkins to succeed Devine as President of GCT USA, effective July 1, 2014. Currently the Chief Operating Officer for GCT USA, Atkins has held successively senior positions since joining the company in 2002.
Global Terminal Completes Latest of Ten Stacks of Additional Capacity

Global Terminal announced that the latest of ten stacks of additional capacity has been completed on time. Global took delivery of the last 5 of its 20 Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes last Thursday. The ten stack expansion will more than double the capacity of the terminal to 1.1 million lifts annually, and is slated to be fully operational by the end of this summer. After more than four years of planning and construction, the expanded Global Terminal is now open. Importers and exporters to the New York/New Jersey harbour now have the best Big Ship Ready alternative to service cargo to the region faster, and more efficiently.
