CGI Federal Issues Layoff Notices to 252 Workers in Norman, Lawton and Fort Sill

CGI Federal has issued layoff notices to 252 workers in Norman, Lawton and Fort Sill after losing an $89.4-million Army contract for system and software engineering support services. Software engineers, other IT workers and support staff at CGI Federal's offices in Norman, Lawton and Fort Sill received layoff notices last week alerting them that their positions would be eliminated over a two-week period beginning November 6, 2014. The company issued the layoff notices in compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires large employers to give workers advance notice before mass layoffs in some instances. The layoff will affect 74 workers at the Army's Fort Sill; 170 workers at CGI Federal's offices outside of the post in Lawton and eight workers in Norman, according to a copy of the layoff notice provided to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.

CGI Federal Inc. Wins $50.3 Million Contract from SPAWAR

CGI Federal Inc. has won $50.3 million contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, or SPAWAR, to provide IT support services for its ongoing data center consolidation program. The Navy Data Center and Application Optimization (DCAO) program aims to increase efficiencies by consolidating the Navy's many legacy data centers. Under its contract, CGI will deliver overall project management and IT support services for the effort to consolidate and modernize 61 legacy Navy sites and approximately 5,614 servers. This new contract allows CGI to expand its footprint within the Navy and further apply its technical expertise toward the goal of making the Pentagon more efficient.

CGI Federal Inc. Wins $107.88 Million Federal Contract

CGI Federal Inc., Fairfax, Virginia, was awarded a $107,880,073 federal contract modification by the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia, for operational environment core functions for the Army Training and Doctrine Command's G-2 support services.
