Keynote Systems, Inc. Key Developments

Keynote Extends HP UFT Testing Capabilities to Smartphones and Tablets

Keynote(R), announced that it will include new script recording capabilities within its HP UFT (Unified Functional Testing) add-in. This gives UFT users the ability to record and playback scripts which interact directly with native objects on mobile applications. With this enhancement, Keynote has greatly increased testing efficiency, enabling HP UFT testers to inspect mobile application objects directly, without relying on image matching as the only means for validation within test script checkpoints. This capability also increases the level of re-usability of test scripts, reducing the level of maintenance required, therefore cutting overall script maintenance costs. Keynote's expanded object commands within HP UFT give users the ability to interact directly with web elements. This capability has been enhanced for Android Chrome, eliminating the need for instrumentation to test any mobile web application while using this browser. The new version of the UFT add-in provides access to a simplified level of descriptive programming for mobile, making it easier to interact with objects and parameters.

Keynote Systems Announces Integration of DeviceAnywhere with Jenkins

Keynote Systems, Inc. announced a new integration of DeviceAnywhere, its cloud-based, on-demand real device testing tool, with Jenkins, an open source continuous integration, or CI, development platform. Specifically, Keynote has introduced their DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for Jenkins plug-in, for automated build acceptance tests (BATs) on real devices from within the popular Jenkins build management platform. In addition, Keynote also announced the launch of its DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for Selenium integration, providing users of the popular open source testing tool with access to the most popular Android devices by integrating with the Selenium WebDriver. The DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for Jenkins integration represents a major breakthrough for mobile developers looking to increase productivity and streamline their testing process by integrating real device testing directly into their build system. Through direct integration with the DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for Jenkins plug-in bridges the continuous integration gap between build system and device, allowing developers to test each successive build on real devices without having to manually load their latest build onto any number of real devices before testing. With the new DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for Jenkins integration, the time savings resulting from not having to manually load apps onto devices before testing can save up to two hours per day. That is up to two hours now freed up for testing teams to perform additional exploratory testing, or to track down any bugs in their previous release. This additional testing and focus on overall quality can often mark the difference between success and failure for a newly launched app.
