Intelligent Software Solutions, Inc. Key Developments
Intelligent Software Solutions, Inc. laid off 40 employees after funding under an Air Force Research Laboratory contract was delayed because of automatic federal budget cuts known formally as sequestration. The layoff was ‘a direct result of sequestration. (The laboratory) decided to hold onto the money, which was funding the salaries of a large group of people for the rest of the fiscal year. The automatic budget cuts were part of a compromise agreed to in 2011 to raise the nation's debt limit and is split evenly between the Department of Defense and civilian federal programs. The cuts were scheduled to begin Jan. 1, but were delayed by two months under a last-minute deal to avoid the so-called ‘fiscal cliff’ of automatic federal budget cuts and expiring of federal income tax cuts.
Intelligent Software Solutions, Inc. has been selected as a prime contractor for a $249 million U.S. Air Force Command and Control Applications and Information Services Development (C2AD) contract. ISS is one of seven prime contractors selected for the Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract. The five year delivery order contract, through the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., will support the replacement of Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS), as well as development of Air Force C2 applications and information services for air, space, and cyberspace domains. It will address needs across the full software lifecycle, from concept development through fielding and sustainment. The work will provide architecture and functionality improvements, vastly improving warfighter productivity compared to existing systems that in some instances are leveraging technology initially fielded more than a decade ago.
Intelligent Software Solutions, Inc. (ISS) has been awarded the five year, $593 million, Air Space Precision Engagement Research and Engineering (ASPERE) contract to provide an advanced software development framework for building intelligence analysis and data fusion software for the U.S. Air Force. ASPERE was awarded to ISS by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate, in Rome, New York. Under terms of the agreement, ISS will expand upon its previous work on the Web Enabled Temporal Analysis System Toolkit (WebTAS-TK) to provide new innovations in key areas such as intelligence analysis and Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance. ISS will perform research, development, integration, testing, demonstration, and operations and maintenance of groundbreaking technologies and concepts in support for the ASPERE effort. The WebTAS Toolkit supports more than 100 projects for 70 different user communities across Air Force and other government agencies around the world. These projects range from efforts supporting advanced research and development of machine learning and complex event processing, to the development and deployment of command and control applications, to cross community intelligence analysis tools. In addition to providing a vehicle for many software development efforts, this award also enables ISS to continue maintaining its ongoing support to operations in Afghanistan, as well as on-site support to many operational commands around the United States and internationally.
