Entergy Arkansas will lay off 165 workers in the state as part of a move by Entergy Corp. to cut 800 jobs. The 165 employees represent 4.7% of company's approximately 3,500 employees. About 40 of the 165 layoffs will come from a Little Rock call center. Those 40 layoffs will happen sometime in the summer next year.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Issues Order to Entergy Arkansas Inc

The U.S. Department of Energy's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued order to Entergy Arkansas Inc. in response to Entergy letter dated March 29, 2012, as supplemented on August 13, 2012, and March 7, 2013. Ms. Alyson Mount, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, filed the letter on behalf of Entergy Arkansas Inc. (EAI) and requested approval of its proposed journal entries to clear Account 102, Electric Plant Purchased or Sold, related to the purchase of distribution facilities from the Little Rock Air Force Base (LRAFB Distribution Assets). EAI's proposed journal entries are approved for accounting purposes only. This accounting approval is not intended to influence the outcome of any rate treatment that may be established for this transaction. EAI represents that it purchased the LRAFB Distribution Assets at an amount equal to the estimated original cost less accumulated depreciation, i.e., net book value. EAI's proposed journal entries clear the purchase through Account 102 and record the estimated original cost and related accumulated depreciation of the assets on its books consistent with Electric Plant Instruction No. 5. EAI represents the Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC) approved the acquisition of the LRAFB Distribution Assets by order dated January 11, 2101, in APSC Docket No. 10-046-P without condition. In that order, EAI was approved by the APSC to recover the full amount of the $2,129,900 purchase price of the LRAFB Distribution Assets in retail rates through an Additional Facilities Charge Rider. The Commission delegated authority to act on this matter to the Director of the Office of Enforcement or his designee under 18 C.F.R. section 375.311 (2012). The Director has designated this authority to the Chief Accountant. This letter order constitutes final agency action.
