The Television segment consists of the CBS and UPN television networks, the company-owned broadcast television stations, and its television production and syndication businesses. Its television network business distributes a schedule of news and public affairs broadcasts, sports and entertainment programming, and feature films to domestic affiliates in the United States. The television station business comprises the ownership of approximately 39 broadcast television stations. The television production and syndication business produces, acquires, and distributes various programming, including series, specials, and made-for-television movies. The Radio segment operates radio stations in the United States. It operates through ‘Infinity Radio’, which owns and operates 183 radio stations serving approximately 41 markets. The Outdoor segment sells advertising space on various media, including billboards, transit shelters, buses, rail systems, mall kiosks, and stadium signage. It had outdoor advertising operations in approximately 90 markets in North America, including 50 metropolitan markets in the United States; 14 metropolitan markets in Canada; and 45 metropolitan markets in Mexico, as of December 31, 2004. The Entertainment segment produces and distributes theatrical motion pictures; publishes and distributes consumer books; owns and operates regional theme parks and a themed attraction in the United States and Canada; operates movie theaters in Canada; and publishes music. Viacom was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in New York City.
