NaviNet, Inc. announced that it has appointed Frank Ingari as Chief Executive Officer. Ingari succeeds Bradley J. Waugh, under whose leadership NaviNet built the real-time communication network for physicians, hospitals, and health insurers, connecting nearly 70% of clinician offices and hospital facilities in the United States. Ingari brings more than 30 years of executive experience to the company. Most recently, he was Chief Executive Officer of Essence Healthcare Inc. Under Ingari's leadership, Essence Healthcare pioneered an innovative accountable care solution with its sister company Lumeris Corporation to deliver world-class population management tools, clinical informatics, and information delivery systems to its members and contracted physicians. NaviNet, Inc. and CoverMyMeds LLC announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership to offer a multi-payer solution for electronic drug prior authorizations (ePAs). Prescribers, clinical staff, and support staff will be able to use NaviNet to respond to ePA requests generated through most U.S. pharmacies. Support for prescription drug prior authorizations is offered as an extension of NaviNet's medical prior authorization process. Starting immediately, health plans and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) may contract with NaviNet for electronic interchange of ePAs using one of the several candidate standards being evaluated by members of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). NaviNet and CoverMyMeds will work closely with payer partners to leverage the NCPDP's emerging standards to drive ePA adoption in the marketplace.
