Six Senses BVI Announces Significant Expansion; Announces Executive Changes

Six Senses BVI announced five new-build properties across five countries. All are scheduled for completion by 2016. The new additions will include the brand's Western Hemisphere debut, with properties under development in St. Lucia, Dominican Republic and Colombia; its first presence in Bhutan, and the opening of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, China at the end of 2013. The company announced that significant growth of the distinctive brand comes to fruition under new leadership, with Wolf Hengst as Executive Chairman and Neil Jacobs as Chief Executive Officer of the company. Six Senses BVI to Open at the Alpina Gstaad, Switzerland

Six Senses BVI has signed a partnership with The Alpina Gstaad, Switzerland to develop and manage the hotel's spa. Scheduled to open in December 2012, The Alpina Gstaad is set in the heart of the Bernese Alps and will offer an intimate and discreet haven for discerning local and international guests in search of an authentic and indulgent Alpine experience. With 56 rooms and suites, numerous possibilities for dining, relaxation and cultural enrichment, this boutique hotel will deliver a new level of distinction, while nurturing the local mountain traditions. The 2,000 sqm Six Senses Spa will be expertly integrated into the hotel's cosy yet luxurious setting and its simple design will infuse the Alpine spirit of the surrounding environment with an Eastern flair, creating secluded, warm and natural ambience. The spa will feature a floatation room, a Hammam, individual treatment rooms dedicated to specialist therapies such as Ayurveda and color therapy and colonic hydrotherapy; five multi-functional single treatment rooms, an Oriental room, a Cave room as well as a Kids Spa. Other facilities include a Salt room, a swimming pool, a variety of relaxation rooms, a juice bar, a gym and a studio for Yoga, Pilates and Aerobics. The Kids Spa will feature a swimming pool, a salt area and a spa menu focusing on specialised children's treatments under parental guidance.
