Chumby Industries, Inc. is seeking a buyer for its assets. “We pivoted from the hardware business to software, and we were getting good traction on that,” said Chumby’s Former Chief Executive Officer, Derrick Oien. “But companies have a finite amount of resources and a finite amount of time.” “There also are some third parties who are big fans of the devices. So there are some people trying to put together an offer around that,” Oien said. “The cost to keep the network up is relatively small. There are some pretty valuable patents, in my opinion. But it’s the trustee’s job to evaluate any offers put on the table.”

Chumby Industries, Inc. and Pace plc will unveil chumby apps on Pace set-top boxes at the Pace booth (#649) at The Cable Show, June 14-16 in Chicago. As part of the demonstration, Pace will showcase chumby applications for televisions, a service chumby offers in addition to its own branded hardware devices, Android application, and partner devices including the Sony Dash and Best Buy's Insignia Infocast. chumby's cloud-based ecosystem of content is flexible across screen size and device type, making the chumby platform a natural fit for services available through TV and set-top box.
