Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc. Key Developments

Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc. Introduces First-of-its-Kind Batting Helmet Rating System

Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc. announced the introduction of the Rawlings Performance Rating(TM) (RPR(TM)) system, a first-of-its-kind batting helmet classification system designed to educate consumers on selecting and purchasing the best option of protective headwear based on expected pitch velocities covering all levels of baseball competition. As part of the RPR rollout, Rawlings also launched a new line of batting helmets tailored specifically for players facing advanced pitchers throwing at higher pitch velocities. The Rawlings S90(TM), Rawlings S80(TM) and Rawlings S70(TM) feature increased velocity protection against 90, 80, and 70 miles-per-hour pitch speeds, respectively, exceeding industry standard of 68 miles-per-hour pitch speed set by the National Operating Committee for Standards on Athletic Equipment. The new RPR batting helmets join the recently adopted Rawlings S100(R) Pro Comp(TM) as the new standard throughout Major League Baseball(R) and the original Rawlings S100, the exclusive batting helmet of Minor League Baseball(R). Rawlings is the Official Batting Helmet of Major League Baseball.

Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc. announced its new S100 Pro Comp batting helmet will become the standard throughout Major League Baseball. The mandatory implementation of Rawlings' technologically-advanced batting helmet is outlined in the 5-year collective bargaining agreement signed in November 2011 by MLB and the MLB Players Association. Rawlings is the Official Batting Helmet of Major League Baseball. Approximately 200 MLB players elected to wear the Rawlings S100 Pro Comp last year before the league-wide rule went into effect, including National League batting champion Buster Posey of the World Series champion San Francisco Giants.
