According to a person familiar with the negotiations, auction of Global Village Telecom (Holding) S.A. (GVT) is likely to stretch into the first quarter of 2013. One person with knowledge of the situation said that the talks are not yet at an advanced stage with the potential bidders and no deal is imminent. Another person with knowledge of the matter said that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Gávea Investimentos Ltda. and Cambuhy Investimentos have formed a consortium to acquire GVT. According to people familiar with the matter, the investment fund of Banco BTG Pactual S.A. and DIRECTV have expressed their interest in GVT. One of them said that BTG Pactual has also made a nonbinding offer. Bruce Churchill, DirecTV Latin America President said, "It could be nice to have GVT to complement the firm's TV offering in the region with broadband and voice." Dow Jones said that all the potential bidders declined to comment. A Vivendi spokesman declined to comment on the names of potential bidders but said, "We're not in any rush." One of the people familiar with the discussions said that the potential bidders believe the pricing to be roughly €7 billion. It is still unclear how close the potential bidders are in terms of GVT's acquisition.
