Spuul Selects Aspera to Speed Transfer of Big Data
Jun 16 14
IBM announced that Spuul, has deployed Aspera to quickly upload high-definition video content to its streaming portal. By significantly reducing the time it takes to upload Bollywood films, TV shows and other licensed video, Spuul can expand its programming options and quickly deliver new content to its millions of worldwide subscribers. Spuul receives a wide variety of movies and TV shows from content and distribution partners across India and streams them to their customers' mobile devices, PCs, connected TVs and game consoles. The ability to quickly and securely deliver fresh video content is critical in the hyper-competitive digital streaming market, where consumers expect new content on a daily, if not hourly, basis and want to view it on their device of choice. Hindered by slow upload times for Big Data - particularly for feature films that can exceed four gigabytes for a single file - Spuul needed a much faster way to expand their online content libraries with its content partners. With Aspera on Demand, Spuul immediately tripled the daily volume of video content uploaded and processed from its distribution partners from eight TV shows to 25 and now receives more than 40 GB of new HD video content each day. The patented Aspera technology makes it faster and easier for content distributors to upload HD videos through the Spuul platform. Aspera overcomes performance bottlenecks inherent in today's online networks to help clients like Spuul reduce the time it takes to securely transfer large files or data sets by up to 99.9%, regardless of distance.
Nefelus Selects Aspera to Accelerate the Transfer of Big Data to Speed Computer Chip Design
Jun 3 14
IBM announced that Nefelus has selected Aspera, an IBM company and creators of software that moves the world's data at maximum speed, to speed the transfer of extremely large design files to, from and through the cloud. This enables IC designers to quickly and securely move proprietary files -- which can exceed 10 gigabytes in size -- to the Nefelus cloud platform, where they can access powerful third-party tools to accelerate semiconductor and chip design projects. IC design companies play a critical role developing the computer chips that power everything from enterprise servers to mobile devices. However, upfront technology and infrastructure investments in the latest design tools, as well as access to scalable computing power to support intensive design work, present a difficult challenge for these companies to stay competitive in the market. The combination of Nefelus and Aspera helps solve these challenges with cloud-based tools and scalable computing resources supported by Aspera's high speed transfer of large files between design teams. With Aspera On Demand, designers now have a simple and secure way to deliver large files to the Nefelus platform from anywhere in the world while reducing transfer times by up to 99%. Once on the Nefelus platform, designers have access to leading Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools in a managed cloud environment. Nefelus also allows users to take advantage of high-performance computing capacity for intensive design tasks with advanced collaboration capabilities that make it easier for global teams to connect and share knowledge to fuel innovation.
Talksum Announces 2100 Series Data Stream Router Proof-Of-Concept Agreement with Aspera
May 21 14
Talksum Inc. announced a proof-of-concept (POC) agreement with Aspera Inc., to test the Talksum 2100 Series Data Stream Router for data management, filtering, and contextual routing. The Talksum 2100 Series works with transport technologies such as FASP where it ingests, transforms, filters, data reduces, applies monitors and alerts, aggregates, enriches, analyzes, and contextually routes information in real time to respective data stores for efficient use. Designed to accelerate real-time decisions, the Talksum 2100 Series improves data acquisition and transformation, and converts any type of structured and semi-structured data into flexibly managed event streams, tailored to different types of storage systems and databases, as well as most BI and analytics systems.
