WaveTec Vision's proprietary ORA System(R), which is now being used to improve the accuracy of cataract surgery in more than 5,000 procedures each month, is undergoing a significant upgrade that provides critical feedback on eye stability. VerifEye(TM) is a new monitoring system that provides ophthalmic surgeons continuous refractive information for more refined visual outcomes. With the ORA System relied on by high-volume cataract surgeons nationwide, WaveTec has increased its annual projection for ORA-Guided cataract surgery to more than 60,000 procedures for the year. This represents roughly 2% of all U.S. cataract procedures, after only 16 months of commercialization. VerifEye is the most significant upgrade yet to the ORA System. VerifEye enables surgeons to confirm that the eye is stable prior to the measurement by providing streaming refractions in the preview screen, which surgeons consider a tremendous benefit.
