Nokia Solutions and Networks Unveils TD-LTE 8-Pipe Radio Module for Band 41 Spectrum
Nov 25 13
Nokia Solutions and Networks launched a TD-LTE 8-pipe radio module for Band 41 spectrum. The new base station component will enable operators to use the 2.6 GHz LTE TDD spectrum band to meet booming demand for mobile broadband. Supporting up to 120 MHz of channel bandwidth, this is the industry's higher capacity 8-pipe radio module. It delivers twice as much transmission power output than previous versions, substantially improving the user experience, particularly at the edge of a cell's coverage. NSN's new base station radio module will help satisfy growing demand for high-quality mobile broadband and voice services, which is a deciding factor in choice of operator. It extends NSN's Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station family with an 8-pipe radio module that supports the growing number of countries adopting the 2.6 GHz LTE TDD spectrum, including Brazil, China, India, Japan, Russia and the USA. The radio module is fully future-proof, ready for the evolution of carrier aggregation and capable of supporting an unprecedented 120 MHz of bandwidth that can deliver more than 1.2 Gbps of total site throughput from a single unit.
E-Plus Group Selects Nokia Solutions and Networks to Protect its 4G LTE Network from Unauthorized Access, Manipulation and Other Threats
Nov 18 13
E-Plus Group has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks to protect its 4G LTE network from unauthorized access, manipulation and other threats. NSN will implement a complete end-to-end, 3GPP-compliant security solution to ensure a safe, convenient mobile broadband experience for E-Plus subscribers. Further benefits include authentication of network elements and lower costs due to the automatic rollout and lifecycle management of base station certificates. Security risks are mounting as operators move to all-IP networks. To minimize these threats and to protect both consumers and networks, dedicated measures are necessary. As the continuation of its partnership with NSN to roll out next-generation 4G LTE in Germany, the operator is addressing security concerns while meeting all market and regularotory requirements. Under the contract, NSN will deliver its radio access security solution, comprising a Security Gateway and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to ensure that only operator-authorized base stations can access the network. Efficient operation is achieved through fully automated certificate lifecycle management.
Nokia Solutions and Networks Expands Deal with Oi to Include Radio Access, GSM and 3G
Oct 29 13
Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) has expanded its supply deal with Oi. The company was already one of three equipment providers for Oi's LTE network - the others being Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson. However, the contract only covered the provision of core infrastructure equipment for the LTE network. Now, in addition to that, NSN says it will also upgrade the operator's GSM and 3G networks across the country with radio technology, as well as providing network planning and optimization, systems integration and care services, including hardware and software services. According to NSN, the company will transform Oi Brasil's network in several regions to a Single RAN (Single Radio Access Network) system based on its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station for GSM, 3G and LTE. As part of the core network, the company will also provide its Liquid Core based Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform. In addition, NSN will deploy its Subscriber Data Management Platform (SDM) including New Technology Home Location Register (NT-HLR) and One-NDS subscriber data management system for a centralized database repository independent of the application used.
