A complete hardware and software reference design, the GainSpan GS2000 HD Video ADK accelerates time-to-market for customers looking to add 720p/30 HD video streaming capabilities to their products. It allows users to stream live video from an HD camera to an iOS or Android based smartphone. The new ADK leverages the key advantages of the GS2000 – high data rates supported in the 802.11 b/g/n SOC, multi-mode connectivity, extremely low standby current and low-power operation. The OmniVision OV9712 and OV788 combination features HD video encoding capabilities that result in excellent video capture in the most challenging lighting conditions. The ADK supports multiple streaming protocols including the commonly used RTP/RTSP. Additional features are planned for addition over the next few months, including cloud connectivity, 2-way audio, motion triggered video streaming and power save modes. GainSpan(R) Corporation, announced the availability of its IOT Controller Application Development Kit (ADK). The main component of the IOT Controller ADK is software that could be running on an access point, a gateway, or a server attached to a gateway, with the objective of simplifying connectivity to the cloud and further extending the battery life of battery-powered IOT devices. This software works in conjunction with embedded software running on devices using GS2000 low power Wi-Fi chips or modules, and mobile reference applications. While IOT devices using Wi-Fi don't generally need any additional infrastructure aside from the existing Wi-Fi access points available in most residential and commercial buildings and in an expanding network of hotspots, most could benefit from the functionalities offered by the IOT Controller: Simplified setup and management of multiple IOT devices within a location. By supporting mDNS /Bonjour service discovery, the IOT controller lets multiple IOT devices operate in a plug-and-play fashion. By using industry standard HTTP(s) and CoAP API, the gateway software provides a common framework for interfacing with the embedded devices, the smartphone and the cloud; The gateway software consolidates and aggregates data in a database for efficient management of connectivity to/from the cloud and a smartphone. By aggregating and filtering the data from and between the embedded IOT devices, the cloud, and the smartphone, the gateway software also allows the battery-operated devices to sleep longer, increasing the battery life of these IOT devices. The IOT Controller ADK also includes: Embedded Software for GS2000 Wi-Fi based devices. This software implements service discovery, enabling low power devices to connect to the IOT gateway automatically and periodically send data or receive instructions/configuration from the gateway; A mobile application /dashboard providing a reference mobile application that OEMs /ODMs can use to design their own mobile app /user interface; IOT Controller Development Kit. Example applications include battery powered Wi-Fi IP cameras, doorbell cameras, cloud cameras, automotive /backup cameras and toy cameras. The GS2000 Full HD Video Application Development Kit (ADK) features the GS2000 SOC, and GEO Semiconductor MAX64380 H.264 encoder SOC. The ADK leverages the key advantages of the GS2000--high data rates supported in the 802.11b/g/n SOC, multi-mode connectivity, extremely low standby current and low power operation. The GEO Semiconductor MAX64380 features high dynamic range ISP and Full HD (1,920 x1,080p 30 fps) resolution, resulting in excellent video quality, full duplex audio processing and echo cancellation.
