Timken Drives Global Workforce Efficiency and Productivity with Accenture and SuccessFactors

The Timken Company is moving its human resources (HR) system into the cloud to drive efficiency and improve productivity across its global workforce. The new system, implemented by Accenture, is based on HR cloud solutions from SuccessFactors, an SAP company. It allows Timken to manage its workforce with a single set of global processes and clear global governance at a significantly lower operating and maintenance cost. The company recognized the need to more effectively manage its global workforce of approximately 19,000 associates across 28 countries and increase productivity while lowering the total cost of ownership of its HR systems. It looked to arm its HR department with a complete, end-to-end solution that brings together employee and company data, offers integrated reporting capabilities and provides advanced analytics for better business insight. As part of the engagement, Accenture and SAP also developed interfaces for vendors of time management and benefits solutions. These interfaces will help reduce the time, effort and budgets required for future implementations of HR cloud solutions from SAP and SuccessFactors. Working closely with Accenture, Timken has successfully implemented the following solutions: SuccessFactors Employee Central, SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, SuccessFactors Compensation, SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, SuccessFactors Learning, SuccessFactors Workforce Planning, SuccessFactors Succession & Development and SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics. SAP and SuccessFactors Announces Availability of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform

SAP and SuccessFactors have announced the availability of the SAP HANA cloud platform, extension package for SuccessFactors, for customers, partners and developers to reportedly extend deployments, build entirely new applications and enable new processes that meet their business needs. The extension package for SuccessFactors makes it quick and easy for companies to adapt and integrate SuccessFactors cloud applications to their existing business processes, thus helping them maintain competitive advantage, engage their workforce and improve their bottom line. The offering is aligned with SAP's stated strategy to unify the entire cloud portfolio on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The extension package is built on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform and includes capabilities from the SuccessFactors Metadata Framework (MDF). SAP HANA Cloud Platform is an open, standards-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that allows SAP customers and partners to build and deploy custom applications in SAP data centers around the world. The platform provides out-of-the-box integration with a comprehensive set of shared services such as identity management, security, enterprise mobility, collaboration and in-memory database that help greatly reduce the time needed to develop enterprise applications in the cloud. With this service, customers can deploy extensions that are tightly coupled with SuccessFactors applications at both the data and user interface level to provide a consistent and beautiful user experience. Built into SuccessFactors solutions, the metadata framework (MDF) makes it quick and easy for business users to define new custom objects, within the SuccessFactors solutions, without any coding required. MDF custom objects are tightly coupled with SuccessFactors applications and reuse existing core application functions - such as permissions, workflows, APIs and analytics. Using MDF, customers can develop custom objects and automatically expose those to SAP HANA Cloud Platform. These objects can then be used by the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for developing richer application extensions that can be mobile and social enabled.

SuccessFactors, Inc. announced the hiring of Thomas Otter as vice president of Product Management. A Gartner analyst and recognized HR expert with 21 years of experience in the IT industry, Otter will help SuccessFactors evolve a new generation of Human Capital Management (HCM) software and best practices. Otter will help SuccessFactors bring innovation to more than 24 million cloud application subscribers by driving the product direction of Employee Central, SuccessFactors' cloud-based core HR system designed for global enterprises. Otter has spent the past five years at Gartner, most recently as research vice president covering HCM trends and technologies. Otter was Gartner's lead analyst on SAP from 2009 to 2011.
