ACI to Cut 60 Jobs in Adelaide

The Australian Workers Union is to meet with ACI to raise concerns over the loss of 60 jobs at its Adelaide plant. The company has been making glassware at West Croydon since 1914 and will now downsize because of a slowdown in the wine export industry. Parent company O-I Australia said demand for locally-made products had fallen and the plant would go from a double to a single furnace from next week. Joseph Kane from the Australian Workers Union said it was not the first round of job losses at the plant. The job cuts are expected to be across all areas of the business with workers expected to be offered voluntary redundancies.

Chromatin, Inc. and ACI Launch New Sorghum Products in Algeria

Under its agreement with Chromatin, ACI will distribute new and improved hybrid sorghum seeds across the North African region to help meet the growing demand for highly nutritious animal feed. ACI is taking a leadership role in bringing high quality sorghum seeds to this region. Sorghum has a unique ability to conserve water resources while producing high yields of grain and biomass on marginal land, making it an ideal crop choice for the dry and arid North African region. Chromatin and ACI premiered the new products in a field day in Zeralda, Algiers, Algeria attended by over 175 stakeholders including farmers, seed retailers, feed manufacturers, Representatives from the Government of Algeria, as well as the President of the Milk Producers Association of Algeria, Mahmoud Benchekour.
