Qualcomm Incorporated announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., is putting high performance Wi-Fi(R) connectivity in consumers' hands and homes with the only end-to-end ecosystem of 802.11ac 2.0 solutions with multi-user multi-input/multi-output (MU-MIMO). Home networking manufacturers such as AVM are introducing products based on Qualcomm(R) VIVE(TM) 802.11ac chipsets with Qualcomm(R) MU | EFX MU-MIMO technology, which Qualcomm Atheros introduced earlier this year to greatly improve Wi-Fi performance for the growing number of connected devices on home, business and public networks. Mobile device manufacturers are also preparing smartphones and tablets to take advantage of these advanced features to achieve up to three times faster 11ac Wi-Fi. Further expanding its portfolio of 11ac 2.0 capable chips, Qualcomm Atheros is introducing the QCA9377, which extends the performance benefits of MU | EFX to notebooks, TVs, cameras, and other consumer electronics that are connecting to increasingly crowded Wi-Fi networks. The single-stream 11ac + Bluetooth 4.1 combination chip is designed to provide the best possible performance with reduced power consumption. Qualcomm VIVE is the only line of 802.11ac 2.0 solutions for networking equipment, consumer electronics, and mobile and computing devices. With more devices connecting via Wi-Fi, Qualcomm VIVE enabled networks with MU | EFX can multi-task like never before -- supporting more simultaneous devices to make better use of wireless capacity that is wasted in Wi-Fi networks that serve one device at a time. ParkerVision, Inc. announced that it has amended its patent infringement complaint filed on May 1, 2014 against Qualcomm Incorporated, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., HTC Corporation and HTC America, Inc. The amended complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, names Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC as additional defendants and furthermore adds four patents to the seven patents in the original complaint. The four additional patents relate to frequency translations and methods and systems for down-converting an electromagnetic signal. The original seven patents in this case relate to radio frequency up-conversion of electromagnetic signals, systems for control of multi-mode, multi-band communications, baseband innovations including control and system calibration, and wireless protocol conversion. ParkerVision is seeking unspecified monetary damages from the defendants as well as a permanent injunction. ParkerVision is also seeking a finding of willful infringement against Qualcomm based on its alleged prior knowledge of certain of the patents in this case.

ParkerVision, Inc. announced that it has filed a second patent infringement complaint against Qualcomm Incorporated. The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleges that Qualcomm Incorporated, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., HTC Corporation and HTC America, Inc. have and continue to make, use, import into the United States, and sell integrated circuits that infringe seven ParkerVision patents. These patents, which were granted for different technologies than the patents in ParkerVision's first infringement case against Qualcomm, relate to radio frequency up-conversion of electromagnetic signals, systems for control of multi-mode, multi-band communications, baseband innovations including control and system calibration, and wireless protocol conversion. ParkerVision is seeking unspecified monetary damages from the Defendants as well as a permanent injunction.
