Macarthur Foundation Elects Sendhil Mullainathan to Serve as Board of Directors

Sendhil Mullainathan has been elected to serve on the MacArthur Foundation Board of Directors. Mullainathan was, until recently, Assistant Director of Research for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He is also founder of ideas42. MacArthurs board sets policies and strategic direction for the Foundation, approves grantmaking areas, initiatives and grants, and oversees investments and the governance process through the work of its committees. Mullainathan joins 11 other members of the Foundations Board of Directors.

MacArthurs Appoints Moutushi Sengupta as Director of India Office

Moutushi Sengupta, former director of Programs and Advocacy for Oxfam India, has been selected to serve as the Director of MacArthurs India Office, which provides grants to civil society organizations that work on population and reproductive health issues, girls secondary education, and peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, Sengupta worked with Oxfam India, a rights-based organization that fights poverty and injustice, and led a process to develop and make operational the vision and strategy for program management. Prior to Oxfam, Sengupta worked with the Department for International Development in India for more than 15 years on a diverse portfolio of programs and projects across the country, including livelihoods promotion, health, rural development, financial and governance reforms, and enterprise development.

Paul Klingenstein Joins MacArthur Foundation's Board of Directors, Effective March 2013

Paul Klingenstein, founder and managing partner of Aberdare Ventures, a venture capital firm, has been elected to serve on the MacArthur Foundation Board of Directors. Klingenstein, who has spent most of his career focused on healthcare innovation and young companies, will join the Board in March. Paul brings to the MacArthur Board a rich knowledge of health programs in some of the most challenging places and expertise in investing in the game-changing ideas that will improve that care around the world.
