OAO Raspadskaya Coal Co. reported production and sales results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2013. The company reported a 25% quarter-over-quarter drop in raw coal production as the company faced a roughly two-month-long closure at its main mine and work on a second project. Raw coal production for the three months ended June 30, 2013 came to 1.7 million tonnes, compared with 2.26 million tonnes in the previous quarter. Total raw coal sales, however, jumped 137% quarter over quarter to 202,000 tonnes from 85,000 tonnes.
For the half year ended June 30, 2013, the company reported a 15% year-over-year increase in raw coal production at 3.97 million tonnes.
Sales of concentrate were down 5% to a total 1.33 million tonnes, from 1.40 million tonnes, on decreased sales within the company's domestic market. Sales within Russia were down 20% to 719,000 tonnes, though that was partially offset by a 22% rise in export sales to 607,000 tonnes.
Total concentrate sales in the first six months of 2012 rose 36% to 2.72 million tonnes from the prior-year period. While domestic concentrate sales fell 7% to 1.62 million tonnes from 1.73 million tonnes, exports of the material offset that decline with a 302% rise to 1.11 million tonnes from 275,000 tonnes, the company noted.
