Echo360 Simplifies Active Learning and Empowers Mobile Publishing With EchoSystem 5.4
Feb 4 14
Echo360 announced the launch of a significant product update that introduces new features to their solution, the EchoSystem. EchoSystem 5.4 is available to Echo360 clients and offers new product capabilities that were developed to make it easier for instructors and institutions to support active learning: Software Capture Solution for Faster Content Creation and Publishing: Instructors can record and auto-publish lectures inside the classroom or on laptops anywhere, anytime. Compatible with Microsoft(R) Windows 7 and 8 technology, the software also gives instructors the added flexibility to include additional video in their courses by recording two video streams based on their needs. The Echo360 media player enables instructors to share their content by embedding lecture recordings in more places including personal blogs, teaching sites and online group study portals. A 35% reduction in database storage requirements makes saving, storing or deleting high definition media recordings easier, more efficient and more reliable than ever before. With the latest in Android support, the Echo360 platform can now reach 90%+ of all US mobile users and be accessed by students on their favorite devices. The new, affordable confidence monitor lights up when recordings are in progress. Instructors can easily pause, resume or stop a recording by simply tapping the light. Collectively, the product updates leverage newly adopted and forward-looking usage trends that complement the use of video in educational environments, growth of mobile adoption, and a non-technical, hand-off approach to the management and support of the EchoSystem.
University of Toronto Selects Echo360 as Sole Active Learning Supplier
Mar 26 13
Echo360 announced that the University of Toronto has selected the Echo360 as a university standard for lecture capture. After a rigorous selection process, University of Toronto opted for Echo360 due to its ease of use for both instructors and administrators. Academics now have a fulsome solution to create and capture instructional content both inside and outside the classroom. System administrators leverage the Echo360's centralized management capabilities to easily control a large deployment across the university campus. Instructors in faculties across the university have the ability to record content using Echo360 to flip the classroom or provide students with additional study aids after class. In one example, the solution is being used to address rising enrollment for popular engineering courses. As demand for the alternative energy systems course increased, the department needed to offer additional seats in the course without teaching it more than once per term. The instructor moved the course online, allowing the university to increase enrollment from approximately 50 students to more than 140 each semester. Class sessions are recorded and students watch where and when it is convenient for them. Recordings serve as dynamic responses to common questions creating virtual, video-based office hours. Echo360 was selected as the campus-wide standard because it supported a variety of capture use cases. Instructors in dentistry, health sciences, arts, education, information sciences and business programs have the option to record content both inside and outside the classroom while administrators easily manage a single solution across the university.
