John Crane Wins 3-Year Service Agreement from Suzano Pulp and Paper
Jun 26 14
Suzano Pulp and Paper has awarded John Crane a three-year Performance Plus reliability program contract, which covers professional field services and management of 1,700 rotating equipment assets to increase uptime and efficiency at four Suzano Pulp and Paper production sites in Brazil. The program will also include on-site technical training for Suzano's maintenance and operations teams, and implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance improvements and cost savings. On-site technicians will be based at each of the Mucuri, Suzano, Limeira and Imperatriz production sites to perform proactive, preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical seals used on their rotating equipment. John Crane will be responsible for maximizing performance and improving the reliability of Suzano's equipment to reduce total cost of ownership and extend the average time between repairs. Suzano will also benefit from the high-performance technology used in John Crane's seals, which will control water usage and reduce water consumption.
John Crane Launches Next-Generation Mechanical Split Seal
Jun 2 14
John Crane introduced its larger, next-generation mechanical split seal: Type 3740XL. The original Type 3740 split seal was introduced in 2009, with thousands now in use around the world. The 3740 seal is also qualified for use on U.S. Navy ships. The new, larger "XL" model is ideal for large, difficult to maintain pumps, mixers and rotating equipment commonly found in power generation plants, waste water plants, desalination plants, pulp and paper mills, and mines. Split seal technology is unique because it can be installed without dismantling the equipment, making it easier for customers to install than a conventional seal. This can potentially reduce installation time by more than 50% in challenging operating environments, reducing costs for customers by saving time, as well as reducing ongoing maintenance costs.
The U.S. and European Patent Offices Awards John Crane A Patent for Breakthrough Technology
Mar 10 14
The U.S. and European patent offices have awarded John Crane a patent for a breakthrough technology that will monitor the condition of a gas seal to improve product performance, extend average product lifespan and aid emission reduction in operations across the energy sector. The patented technology will be the next step-change leading to improved gas seal reliability, equipment uptime and lower operating costs for customers. The patent outlines several configurations of an advanced gas seal condition monitoring system that will provide comprehensive and continuous real time monitoring of the status of a compressor, control panel and gas seal to improve gas seal performance. In-house prototype testing is scheduled through this summer, and extensive customer field tests will follow.
