University of Cincinnati Appoints Whit Babcock as Athletic Director, Effective March 1, 2014

Virginia Tech President Charles Steger announced that Whit Babcock will become the university's next athletic director. Babcock has served as athletic director at the University of Cincinnati since 2011. A native Virginian, Babcock was born in Lynchburg and grew up in Harrisonsburg. He played baseball at James Madison University and graduated in 1992. He also received a master's degree in sports management from West Virginia University in 1996. He also served previously in various athletic fundraising and marketing leadership roles at West Virginia University, Auburn University, and James Madison University. His five year appointment is effective March 1, 2014.

The University of Cincinnati announced executive appointments. UC appointed Bleuzette Marshall as chief diversity officer. She will serve on the president's cabinet and executive committee. Marshall worked at UC and the UC Foundation for nearly twenty-one years, including stints in Ethnic Programs and Services, the African American Cultural and Resource Center and in development at the UC Foundation. The UC Foundation has promoted Myron Hughes as its new senior associate vice president of development, diversity and inclusion. Hughes is responsible for strengthening relationships with diverse alumni and raising philanthropic support for diversity and inclusion efforts across the institution. Hughes served as executive director of the UC Alumni Association since 2008, before which he spent seven years with the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce as the manager of national marketing.
Cardinal Solutions Partners with University of Cincinnati to Bring Industry Experience to Campus

Cardinal Solutions signed an agreement with the University of Cincinnati's Department of Information Technology on Oct. 21. Cardinal Solutions will leverage its extensive experience in technology solutions including mobile application development, user experience and custom application development to help bring real world experience to the students. The goal is to help effect curriculum in a manner to drive productivity of students when they graduate and enter the workforce. The partnership will help Cardinal Solutions interact with the talented pool of students. As the IT industry job landscape continues to be more and more competitive, Cardinal will get to know students from a recruiting perspective and ensure the students are prepared to enter the job force.
