Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Appoints John J. Farmer Jr. as Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey announced that John J. Farmer Jr., dean of Rutgers School of Law-Newark since July 2009, has been appointed Rutgers' senior vice president and general counsel. The appointment is effective immediately. Prior to joining Rutgers, Farmer had a long career in public service and private practice. Among other positions, he served as New Jersey's attorney general from 1999 to 2002 and as senior counsel and team leader for the National Commission on Terrorists Attacks upon the United States (commonly known as the 9/11 Commission).

Rutgers Board To Decide On UMDNJ Merger

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey’s two governing board will meet on November 19, 2012 to vote on whether to merge with University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). “This is a chance for both of our universities to get together to do things better,” said Christopher Molloy, the Rutgers provost overseeing the merger planning. “It's a chance to really create a university, in some ways, from the ground up. We're really rethinking these two strong universities.”
