SOLON Corporation announced appointment of John Kintz as managing director of the project finance group and Jeff Calabro as senior director of procurement and acquisitions. John Kintz is responsible for commercial and utility-scale solar project financings. Before joining SOLON, Kintz was a director of project finance at SunPower Corporation, where he negotiated, arranged and closed over 400 megawatts of solar transactions in North America. Calabro was senior director of procurement and asset management at PsomasFMG prior to SOLON. He has over fourteen years experience in the photovoltaic industry and has held positions in sales, procurement, product management, operation start-up, project management and project development. He has effectively negotiated multi-million dollar supply agreements and over the course of his career has been directly involved with the procurement of over 300 MW of PV module supply.
SOLON Corporation Completes Five MW Prairie Fire Solar Plant

SOLON Corporation announced the completion of the 5 megawatt (MW) Prairie Fire Solar Plant in Tucson, Arizona, for Tucson Electric Power (TEP). The fixed-tilt system was designed and constructed by SOLON. TEP will own and operate the solar production facility. The 5 MW system spans 28 acres and is composed of more than 17,000 solar panels. The construction of the system, located near East Valencia and East Old Vail roads, took just 10 weeks and created the equivalent of 75 full-time local jobs. Over the course of a year, the Prairie Fire array is expected to produce approximately 9,000 megawatt hours (MWh), enough to power more than 850 homes. By the end of 2013, TEP expects to have more than 250 MW of renewable generating capacity, enough energy to power the equivalent of approximately 50,000 homes. With the activation of Prairie Fire, SOLON now has nearly 65 MW of solar resources installed and operating just in the state of Arizona.
SOLON Corporation Completes 459 KW Solar Project for Gila Bend Water Treatment Facility

SOLON Corporation announced it has completed construction of a 459 kilowatt PV system at the Reverse Osmosis Water treatment facility for the Town of Gila Bend, Arizona. The system is expected to offset the energy usage of the water treatment facility by 86%, which will save money for the Town of Gila Bend through reduced utility bills. the company engineered, designed, constructed, and commissioned the fixed-tilt system. As a full service system provider, the company will continue to operate and maintain the system on behalf of Gila Bend. The project development and system ownership was financed through a State of Arizona Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) grant awarded to the Town of Gila Bend for drinking water infrastructure improvements.
