Standard Chartered PE Reportedly To Invest In Ocean Sparkle

Standard Chartered Private Equity Limited is reportedly leading the race to invest more than INR 2.5 billion, to acquire a significant minority stake in Ocean Sparkle Limited, said people familiar with the matter. The Standard Chartered arm may subscribe to fresh shares and buy some from existing financial investors, valuing Ocean Sparkle at INR 10 billion. Morgan Stanley Private Equity is another contender for the deal. Ocean Sparkle's 55% stake is owned by promoters Eredene Capital PLC, India Equity Partners, The Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India and Park Equity Holdings.

IEP Reportedly Acquires 25% Stake In Sagar Ratna

India Equity Partners (IEP) is known to have made an investment of INR 1.60 billion ($35 million) in Sagar Ratna Hotels Private Limited. VCCircle reported citing two sources directly involved in the matter that IEP will acquire 25% stake in Sagar Ratna. The promoter group of the firm, led by Jayaram Banan will continue to hold a majority stake after the investment. One source familiar with matter stated that the the deal had been signed on June 22 and the funds were transferred on June 24. VCCircle stated that IEP’s Managing Director Gaurav Mathur denied commenting on the deal. The person stated that the deal was initially being structured as a majority stake sale to IEP.
