Morgan Stanley Select Investment Strategies Ltd. Announces Change of Investment Manager

The Directors of the Morgan Stanley Select Investment Strategies Ltd. announced that Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. will replace Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc as investment Manager of the company with effect from September 01, 2009. Pursuant to an investment management agreement dated September 01, 2009 (as amended) between the company and the Investment Manager (the 'Investment Management Agreement'), the Investment Manager has agreed to provide investment management services to the company.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2009

Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported a pre-tax loss of $239 million, compared with a pre-tax loss of $232 million in last year's second quarter, as losses in the Merchant Banking business were partly offset by profitable results in the Core business. Net revenues were $575 million, compared with $582 million a year ago. Net revenues in the Core business were $638 million, up from $610 million in the prior year. The increase in Revenue was driven by gains of $128 million related to the disposition of the remaining securities issued by structured investment vehicles held on balance sheet, compared with losses of $77 million a year ago, and higher principal investments revenues. These gains were partly offset by lower management and administrative fees, primarily resulting from lower assets under management. Loss applicable to the company was $108 million compared to loss applicable to the company was $135 million for the same period a year ago. For the six months, the company reported revenue of $647 million compared to revenue of $1,156 million for the same period a year ago. Loss applicable to the company was $526 million compared to loss applicable to the company was $207 million for the same period a year ago.

Morgan Stanley Appoints Henry McVey as Head of Global Macro and Asset Allocation for Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc

Morgan Stanley announced that Henry McVey, who previously worked at Morgan Stanley for more than a decade, is returning to the Firm as Head of Global Macro and Asset Allocation for Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. Mr. McVey will have portfolio management responsibilities and oversight of MSIM's Global Macro and Asset Allocation investment team. He will also serve as MSIM's Strategist, with responsibility for articulating his market outlook and strategy to clients. Mr. McVey, who most recently was a portfolio manager at Fortress Investment Group LLC.
