University of Dayton has named four alumni leaders to its board of trustees for three-year terms. The new trustees include: Kevin P. Maloney, owner of Maloney & Associates and president of the University of Day-ton's National Alumni Association; Bro. Bernard J. Ploeger, S.M, president of Chaminade University in Honolulu since 2009. He joined Chaminade's administrative ranks as executive vice president and provost in 2001; Mike Ruffolo, CEO and president of Crossbeam Systems and Ty J. Williams, senior vice president and Northeast market manager for the corporate banking group for Fifth Third Bank.
University of Dayton announced that it is establishing a presence in China with the Aug. 8, 2012 grand opening of the University of Dayton China Institute in innovation parks. Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) officials invited the University of Dayton to open a stand-alone institute in the ultra-modern park and then funded a renovation of a five-story, 68,000-square-foot building for classrooms, laboratories and project space. SIP officials want University of Dayton students to do applied research and product development for industries in the park.
University of Dayton recently appointed five business leaders to its board of trustees. They are: John Forte, president and founder of Forte Properties Inc.; Joseph Hinrichs, group vice president and president, Asia Pacific and Africa, and chairman and CEO of Ford (Ford Motor Co.) China.; Dr. Anne Eiting Klamar, president and CEO of Midmark Corp. in Versailles; Richard Omlor, chairman and CEO of YSI Inc., a Yellow Springs; and Lawrence W. Woerner, global head of regions for Mercer. The new trustees replace John Haley, Brother Tom Giardino, Westina Matthews Shatteen, Sister Francis Marie Thrailkill and Andy Veres, who have finished their terms.
