Eric J. Fournier Appoints as Director of Samford University's Center for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship

Geography professor Eric J. Fournier has been named Director of Samford University's Center for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS). The appointment is part of the university-wide effort to strengthen and expand Samford's commitment to faculty development and teaching excellence. In his new role, Fournier will oversee CTLS initiatives such as the Faculty Mentoring Program and Faculty Workshop series, and will develop new programs that will expand the scope, reach and effectiveness of the CTLS. He also will build an advisory board for the CTLS and create opportunities for other Samford faculty to serve as fellows of the center, supporting research related to effective teaching strategies.
Samford University Announces Three New Administrative Appointments

Samford University has announced three academic administrative appointments, effective immediately. Mary Sue Baldwin will assume a new title of chief institutional effectiveness officer in the office of the president. Baldwin had been serving as associate provost, and she will continue many of the responsibilities she has had with assessment and accreditation, according to Samford President Andrew Westmoreland. Baldwin will have administrative oversight for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to support Samford's assessment and compliance work. Nancy Biggio will become associate provost for administration. She has been serving as assistant provost since 2009 and will continue to have administrative oversight for the Academic Success Center, disability resources and the Career Development Center. She will also have additional administrative involvement with the Office of the Registrar and student records, the Office of Academic Grants, and financial management within academic affairs. Chris Metress will have an expanded role as associate provost for academics. He will continue with the special projects he has undertaken as University Professor to increase faculty and student opportunities for academic excellence. He will also have administrative involvement with University Fellows, the Office of Global Engagement, Air Force ROTC, General Education, and other academic programs.
Samford University Appoints Betsy Bugg Hollowayas as Chief Marketing Officer, Effective August 1, 2013

Betsy Bugg Holloway has been named Samford University's chief marketing officer, effective August 1. Holloway currently serves as the Dwight Moody Beeson Chair of Business, Hackney Family Research Fellow and professor of marketing in Samford's Brock School of Business.Holloway's appointment comes after a year-long study of the university's marketing needs. A task force appointed by Samford President Andrew Westmoreland recommended establishing a new office of strategic marketing to be led by a chief marketing officer. Holloway is actively engaged in the marketing discipline, and her research is featured in academic journals and conferences in the U.S. and abroad. She serves on the editorial review board of The Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and on the boards of directors for the Alabama Association of Nonprofits, the Birmingham Civic Club Foundation, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Foundation, and BBVA Compass Bank (Birmingham, Ala.). Holloway is the immediate past president of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society, which operates on more than 300 college and university campuses around the country.
