Embarcadero Technologies Announces Major New XE6 Release of Portfolio of Database Tools

Embarcadero Technologies announced a major new XE6 release of its portfolio of database tools, including ER/Studio, DBArtisan and Rapid SQL. The new tools enable customers to meet today's demanding data challenges while delivering significant productivity gains across an enhanced set of database management system (DBMS) platforms. Designed for developers, DBAs, and architects, Embarcadero's heterogeneous tools enable customers to design, build, and run their databases and applications in the environments they choose, free from the constraints, costs, and learning curves associated with multiple platform-specific tools. The expanded XE6 portfolio provides new support for platforms including MongoDB, Hadoop Hive and PostgreSQL. Meeting Big Data Challenges: ER/Studio: Data modelers and architects are facing larger, more complex data models and tasked with managing numerous stakeholder groups that need access to information assets. The new release of ER/Studio provides big data support along with performance improvements to handle large, collaborative model management needs. New features: Reverse-engineering support for Hadoop Hive and MongoDB big data platforms; extended 64-bit memory model improves system performance with large datasets; enterprise Team Edition offers enhanced collaboration on models and metadata across the organization. DBArtisan and Rapid SQL: Database administrators and developers are being challenged with administration, tuning and development across complex, heterogeneous database environments. The new release of DBArtisan and Rapid SQL provides PostgreSQL support enabling work across an even broader set of DBMS platforms using a single, consistent tool which lower learning curves, reduces IT maintenance and improves productivity. New features: PostgreSQL support including Greenplum MPP & Pivotal HAWQ SQL-on-Hadoop; SQL Server 2014 support delivers up-to-date administration and development capabilities.

Embarcadero Technologies Unveils Technology Strategy for Developers to Create Connected Apps for the Internet of Things

Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. unveiled its technology strategy for developers to build a new breed of connected apps for the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) market. According to Gartner Inc., IoT will grow to 26 billion units installed in 2020 (in addition to 7.3 billion PCs, tablets and smartphones), representing an almost 30-fold increase from 0.9 billion in 2009. The results of a new Embarcadero developer survey echoes this growth trend, with 31% of respondents already engaged in IoT projects. Of those not yet developing for IoT, 86% have plans to begin their first connected app projects starting within the next three years. New Embarcadero Technologies Enabling the Development of Connected Apps for IoT. Embarcadero's strategy for IoT is to focus on four key areas of interconnection: mobile/desktop devices; gadgets; cloud services; and, data. Embarcadero offers new technologies to address these key areas and enable the development of a new breed of connected apps for the IoT market. New technologies include: User Interface (UI) Design for Multiple Form Factors and Devices: Embarcadero's new FireUI enables developers to create a shared master UI form across all devices and form factors, leveraging common user interface source code that can be optimized for the native platform experience on each specific device form factor. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi App Tethering: Developers can instantly connect disparate devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi app tethering, enabling app connected solutions that span the thousands of consumer and industrial gadgets, devices, PCs, and sensors available. Enterprise Mobility Services (EMS): Enterprise Mobility Services support connectivity with backend enterprise data and APIs essential for building connected apps for the Internet of Things. As a turnkey mobile middleware solution, EMS can easily be deployed on premise or into a private cloud, and provides user authentication and analytics. With launch of the latest release of Appmethod, Embarcadero's new technologies for enabling the development of connected apps are available immediately.

Embarcadero Technologies Launches Embarcadero RAD Studio XE7

Embarcadero Technologies launched Embarcadero(R) RAD Studio XE7, the complete solution to build connected apps for Windows, Android, iOS, OS X, gadgets, and wearables. The new XE7 version of RAD Studio enables Delphi/Object Pascal and C++ developers to extend existing Windows applications and build new, modern apps that connect desktop and mobile devices with gadgets, cloud services, and enterprise data and APIs. RAD Studio XE7 enables developers to extend Windows applications using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth App Tethering, and create shared user interface code across multiple device form factors. With RAD Studio XE7, developers can also access data and services from within the enterprise, while the new Parallel Programming Library significantly boosts multi-threaded performance on multi-core systems, and much more. New RAD Studio XE7 Features for Building Connected Apps: FireUI Multi-Device Designer and UI Components: RAD Studio XE7 offers a revolutionary way to build a shared user interface that is optimized for specific devices and form factors. Developers can now get connected apps to market faster by developing for multiple platforms and device form factors simultaneously, with one shared master form and fine-tuned device specific views of that master form. A new behavior service API allows the framework to optimize for the capabilities and device form factor of the native platform to deliver the best user experience for that device; Connected Apps with Bluetooth: Bluetooth connections are now available for App Tethering. Developers can extend their existing Windows applications to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled devices, including Bluetooth LE for connecting to lower power devices. Hundreds of gadgets and wearables are immediately available to connect with existing Windows and mobile apps; Enterprise Mobility Services (EMS): Enterprise Mobility Services (EMS) is a new turnkey solution for today's interconnected, distributed apps, offering an easy to deploy middleware server that hosts loadable custom API and data access modules. EMS is based on open and standard technologies, including REST HTTP calls and JSON data formats, and provides major SQL database drivers along with a built-in encrypted, embedded, and server-side SQL data store. With its user management and authentication, plus user and API analytics, Enterprise Mobility Services is ideal for enabling secure access from mobile and desktop apps to enterprise databases. EMS is a middleware solution that is stateless, restful, scalable, and secure; and Parallel Computing Library: Developers can significantly boost multi-threaded app performance on multi-core systems. The new Parallel Programming library exponentially increases the performance of existing C++ and Object Pascal code by parallelizing threads that can take full advantage of multi-core CPUs. Other RAD Studio XE7 enhancements include: Object Pascal Language enhancements; RTL enhancements; database and FireDAC enhancements; new PAServer manager; and FireMonkey enhancements. Availability: RAD Studio XE7, Delphi XE7 and C++Builder XE7 are available immediately from Embarcadero and from Embarcadero partners.
