TAM Airlines and US Airways Enter Oneworld

TAM Airlines and US Airways completed their transition to oneworld marking the biggest single-day expansion of the worlds leading quality airline alliance since its launch 15 years ago. Both newcomers started offering oneworlds services and benefits from their first flights this morning, on leaving the Star alliance after their final departures on April 3, 2014. US Airways regional affiliates, operating as US Airways Express, also transitioned to oneworld on April 4, 2014. TAM and US Airways significantly expand oneworld on many key measures: Increasing the number of passengers carried annually across the alliance network by a third, adding another 120 million customers a year. Expanding the annual capacity offered by the alliance by 20%. Adding almost a hundred destinations to the oneworld network a near 10% increase.
US Airways Relocates Operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport Effective February 12, 2014

Airlines Group, will operate out of Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The airline will end operations at Terminal 1 the night of Feb. 11, 2014 following the late night arriving and departing flights, and the US Airways Club at LAX will also cease operations. All US Airways ticketing and check-in, gates, baggage services and customer service will begin operations in Terminal 3 with the airline's first flights from LAX the morning of Feb. 12, 2014. The US Airways ticket counter will be located on the east end of Terminal 3 and the baggage service office will be located on the east side of the arrival level. US Airways Club members can utilize the American Airlines Admirals Club located in Terminal 4.
US Airways to Close 600 Employee Flight Operations Centre at Pittsburgh International Airport

US Airways is closing its 600-employee flight operations centre at Pittsburgh International Airport over the next 18 months. The airline is merging with American Airlines in a $17.8 billion deal approved in December, but US Airways and American continue to operate separately until the Federal Aviation Administration grants the new entity - American Airlines Group-a unified operating certificate. The move to close the flight operations centre comes as the merged airline plans to move the jobs to the American Airlines Integrated Operations Control Center in Dallas Fort-Worth.
