Digi-Key Corporation, Inc. announced the signing of a global distribution agreement with WIZnet. Philips Lumileds Lighting Company is the manufacturer of power LEDs and a pioneer in the use of solid-state lighting solutions for everyday purposes including automotive lighting, computer displays, LCD televisions, signage and signaling, flash for smartphones and general lighting. The company's patented LUXEON(R) Power Light Sources are the first to combine the brightness of conventional lighting with the small footprint, long life and other advantages of LEDs. The company also supplies core LED material and LED packaging, manufacturing billions of LEDs annually, and ranks as the producer of the world's brightest red, amber, blue, green and white LEDs.
Digi-Key Corporation announced the addition of single stage LED drivers from Cirrus Logic, Inc. The innovative CS615/16 product line recreates the dimming performance consumers expect from incandescent light bulbs. Through patented digital algorithms, the CS1615/16 consistently outperforms competing single-stage LED drivers in dimmer compatibility, while offering a total bill-of-material cost equal to competing solutions. Across a broad range of dimmers, the CS1615/16 consistently dims to nearly zero light output, which closely matches the dimming performance of incandescent light bulbs. Market research firm Datapoint Research estimates that the LED retrofit market is expected to grow from 230 million units in 2012 to more than one billion by 2016. The product will be in volume production in early summer of 2013. It is available in 16-pin SOIC and 16-pin TSSOP packages.
