Ted J. Fick has been selected as the Port of Seattle's new chief executive officer. Fick, who spent decades as an executive in manufacturing in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere, will assume the new job when company's CEO Tay Yoshitani retires in September. Although the Seattle Port Commission has selected Fick from among several candidates for the job, he wont formally be appointed until the commission approves his appointment in a public vote Sept. 11, 2014. Fick's most recent job was president and chief executive officer of Polar Corporation. He resigned in March 2013 to pursue other opportunities.
