Dr. Helga Rippen has joined Westat Inc. as vice president and chief health information officer. She will head Westat's Center for Health Information Technology. Joining Rippen at the center is health IT expert Dr. Scott Finley, who will serve as senior physician informaticist. Rippen's more than 20 years of experience has spanned all aspects of health technology and health care, including patient treatment, basic research, product development, implementation and national policy development. Most recently, Rippen served as vice president of health information technology at Hospital Corporation of America. She led the development of an electronic health record initiative for HCA's 170 hospitals, 300 physician offices, imaging centers, and outpatient surgical centers.
