Pat Maxwell appoints as new director of the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University. Maxwell succeeds founding director Terri Barreiro, who retired after 10 years. He has worked as a board chairman, director, CEO, CFO, vice president and general counsel. Throughout the U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim, he started, bought or led 20 businesses and nonprofits. Maxwell has served on St. John's board of regents and its national alumni board. He now serves on the Board of Overseers of the St. John's School of Theology-Seminary.

St. John's University Board of Trustees has named Conrado M. Gempesaw, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, as St. John's President. Dr. Gempesaw will succeed Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M. as president effective July 1, 2014. An accomplished scholar, teacher and administrator, Dr. Gempesaw comes to St. John's with almost three decades of academic experience.

St. John's University President the Rev. Donald J. Harrington announced his retirement on May 3, 2013 two months after New York Magazine ran articles accusing him of taking gifts and vacations from a powerful school fund-raiser who killed herself during her fraud trial. Harrington, 67, has been at the helm of the Queens university for more than two decades since his arrival in 1989. His retirement will become effective July 31, 2013.
