University Of Manitoba announced that Joanne Keselman has been appointed as vice-president (academic) and Provost at the University of Manitoba as of April 28 for a five-year term. Previously, Dr. Keselman served as vice-president (research) and associate vice-president (research). During her twelve-year tenure as vice-president (research). Digvir Jayas has been appointed vice-president (research) at the University of Manitoba as of April 28 for a five-year term. Dr. Jayas, whose master's degree is from the University of Manitoba, served as associate vice-president (research) and associate dean (research) in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Head of biosystems engineering.

University Of Manitoba officially opened its new home for its pharmacy faculty, the first step in a $100-million-plus redevelopment of the school. Pharmacy students and staff are now at the Apotex Centre in downtown Winnipeg. The move will allow his students and staff a better opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues in medicine and dentistry, with whom they will be working once they graduate. The move is the first part of Project Domino, the school's redevelopment plan. The key to the whole project is the construction of a new residence on the south side of the Fort Garry campus. That residence will allow the nearly 100-year-old Tache Hall to cease housing students by the spring of 2010 and instead be totally renovated to be home to the faculty of music and school of art.

Navitas Limited has entered into a Recognition and Educational Services Agreement with The University of Manitoba to establish its second college in Canada. To be called the International College of Manitoba, the new college will be located in Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba.
