Tenet Healthcare Corporation and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) have extended their agreement providing BCBSTX members access to in-network care at all of Tenet's hospitals and outpatient centers in Texas. The agreement also completes the first step toward implementing the previously announced statewide accountable care organization (ACO), which is expected to launch January 1, 2015. The ACO is a collaboration between BCBSTX and Tenet's clinically integrated organizations in Texas with the goal of improving the long-term health and wellbeing of BCBSTX members. Tenet currently has 12 ACOs nationally, covering more than 330,000 lives in nine states.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, or BCBSTX, and Tenet Healthcare Corporation have collaborated to offer a statewide accountable care organization, or ACO, model to deliver improved, sustainable patient care and help manage costs through Tenet's Integrated Care Networks. The collaboration is planned to be available to BCBSTX PPO commercial patients at any of Tenet's Texas hospitals with an Integrated Care Network beginning Jan. 1, 2015. The agreement may be expanded to include health insurance marketplace patients over the life of the agreement. Tenet's Texas Integrated Care Networks currently include South Texas Care Connect in San Antonio, Physician Performance Network of Houston and the Sierra Providence Physician Performance Network in El Paso.
