MRIGlobal announced that it will work with Argentum Medical LLC, which was awarded a $7.8 million, 24-month contract by the Department of Health and Human Services, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority. MRIGlobal will support Argentum Medical by developing comprehensive treatment regimens and models to evaluate the efficacy of antimicrobial burn contact dressings as advanced treatments for wounds caused by chemical threat agents. The project includes options for additional work in efficacy testing using stringent Good Laboratory Procedures, up to $16.5 million over a five-year period, if milestones are met.

The MRIGlobal Board of Directors announced that Thomas M. Sack, Ph.D, has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. With the appointment, Sack assumes responsibility for all MRIGlobal operations, a $100 million contract research organization working in global health, energy, national security and defense. The position includes responsibility for MRIGlobal's partnership in the Alliance for Sustainable Energy LLC, which manages more than $400 million in research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., for the U.S. Department of Energy. Sack previously served as Senior Vice President and Director of Technical Operations.
