University Of West Florida has announced the appointment of Kyle Marrero as interim vice president for university advancement at the University of West Florida effective August 1, 2009. Marrero currently serves as the director of the UWF School of Fine and Performing Arts and chair of the UWF Music Department. He also serves as the artistic director of Pensacola Opera. As an academic administrator and director of the School of Fine and Performing Arts, Marrero has garnered success in his abilities to navigate curriculum, personnel and development issues.

University Of West Florida announced a month into his tenure as CEO of the 110,500-student state university system, John Cavanaugh sat down with The Patriot-News as part of a series of interviews with Pennsylvania media. Cavanaugh, 54, was president of the University of West Florida before taking the $327,500-a-year post in Harrisburg. He began work here July 1.

The president of the University of West Florida has been tapped as the new chancellor of the system that oversees Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities. John C. Cavanaugh, 54, who has run the Florida school since 2002 and at one time was an administrator at the University of Delaware, will start as chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education on July 1, 2008. The job includes helping the system's board of governors set policies for the universities, which enroll more than 110,000 students. It also entails helping the board evaluate the 14 university presidents, and setting goals for both the presidents and the system, which counts Cheyney and West Chester Universities among its schools. He becomes the state system's third chancellor in its 25-year history, replacing Judy G. Hample, who served for seven years. Hample has been named president of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
