Tennessee State University and Middle Tennessee State University Sign Memorandum to Collaborate on Research in Data Sciences

Tennessee State University and Middle Tennessee State University have entered into an agreement to develop strategic areas of research in data sciences. A joint institute will be created to ensure the implementation of the agreement. The two TBR institutions will engage in collaborative research, workforce training and education, and seek joint funding opportunities to support the partnership. Under the proposed Joint Institute for Data Sciences, TSU and MTSU will "actively" seek to participate in and enhance faculty and student research training programs, as well as provide access for each institution's students to education and training programs that are available at one institution but not at the other. The emphasis would be in the area of engineering.
Tennessee State University Announces Appointments as Part of Reorganization

Tennessee State University (TSU) announced several new appointments at the University. Dr. Mark Hardy, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Hardy served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Biology at Jackson State University. Dr. Stephanie Bailey as Director of Public Health Initiatives. Dr. Bailey currently serves as Interim Dean of the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs. They were tasked with reviewing the job descriptions, postings and advertisements; developing and implementing a score-card matrix; reviewing applications; conducting interviews; and making recommendations of two to three candidates to the President (for each position) for approval. The newly appointed officials will join TSU on or before July 1, 2013.
Tennessee State University Announces Board Changes

Tennessee State University Foundation Board of Trustees has a new chairman. He is Dwayne Tucker, a longtime senior management executive, and a 1980 TSU graduate. Tucker replaces Melvin Malone, who stepped down after two years at the helm, but will remain as a board member. Currently, Tucker is a senior adviser at Compass Executives, a management consulting services firm focused on entrepreneurial leaders of private and public companies.
