LaVern Delaney Promotes as Vice President of Nursing for Alamance Regional Medical Center

LaVern Delaney has been promoted to vice president of nursing for Alamance Regional Medical Center. Delaney will provide strategic leadership for the more than 900 nurses who work there. Delaney has been involved in implementing electronic medical records across Cone Health, served on the Cone Health Institutional Review Board and was part of the steering committee working for re-designating Cone Health hospitals through the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program®. She also has been active with the Cone Health Diversity and Inclusion Council and with Cone Health’s cultural transformation work. Prior to joining Cone Health in 2005, Delaney was a clinical nurse manager and a cardiac nurse specialist for Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Va.

Alamance Regional Medical Center Announces Executive Changes

Alamance Regional Medical Center announced that after 27 years at Alamance Regional Medical Center, John Currin has begun his planned transition toward retirement. Currin has relinquished his role as CEO and will work as a consultant with Cone Health through the end of 20130. Effective October 1, 2013 Preston Hammock assumes full executive responsibility for Alamance Regional and will continue to serve as president and chief operating officer. Currin will continue his work on Alamance Regional’s Cultivating Hope Capital Campaign to raise money for the cancer center and with Impact Alamance, the new community health fund created as a result of the merger with Cone Health. Currin has served as chief executive officer since 2005. The Alamance County native was involved in two important hospital mergers. He was part of the executive team that led the merger of Alamance County and Memorial hospitals in 1986 and was a key driver in the merger with Cone Health.
