Hawaiian Electric Approves a LNG Supply Agreement with FortisBC

Hawaiian Electric's board of directors has approved a LNG supply agreement with FortisBC, which still needs to be finalized pending approvals from regulators in British Columbia and Hawaii. Hawaiian Electric is yet to determine the transportation arrangements for LNG supplied from Tilbury. FortisBC will not be exporting natural gas as part of this agreement. Import and delivery logistics will need to be determined by Hawaiian Electric.

The FortisBC Board of Directors announced the appointment of Michael Mulcahy as President and Chief Executive Officer of FortisBC Inc. and FortisBC Energy Inc., effective August 1, 2014. Mr. Mulcahy joined the Fortis group of companies in 1993. He began with Maritime Electric and has also held executive positions at Fortis Properties; Newfoundland Power and FortisBC. Most recently at FortisBC, he was Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Customer and Corporate Services. He is a former Chair of the Customer Council of the Canadian Electricity Association. He succeeds John Walker who was recently appointed Executive Vice President, Western Canadian Operations, Fortis Inc., effective August 1, 2014.
