Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. Announces Earnings Results for the Year Ended September 30, 2013; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Fiscal 2014

Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. announced earnings results for the year ended September 30, 2013. For the period, the company increased sales 1% to $516.9 million. Operating income was down 18% to $62.4 million for the year, from $76.3 million last year. The major cause for the decline occurred during the fourth quarter when management concluded that would likely incur higher completion cost than previously estimated on the Sydney and Vancouver design build projects, aggregating $17.2 million. For the fiscal 2014, the company expects an increase in sales with the addition of the transport solution acquisition, a full year contribution from the NextBus acquisition and sales associated with the ramp-up of the Chicago open payment contract. With the exception of the first quarter, the company expects CTS operating profits in 2014 as a whole will improve compared to 2013 due to the increase in sales.
