M.J. Soffe to Eliminate 135 Jobs
Jul 12 13
M.J. Soffe has announced a round of 135 layoffs. The jobs cuts take effect Sept. 12, 2013. The cuts are part of a planned consolidation of Delta's screen print operations. The goal is to focus on more efficient manufacturing and distribution strategies. The consolidation will result in the closing of the Wendell decoration facility operated by the company's Soffe business unit and the consolidation of those operations within Soffe's Fayetteville facility. Soffe's Fayetteville facility will continue to employ about 500 associates in various capacities, including sewing, screen printing, retail packaging,
distribution and product and art development. Additionally, the facility will continue to house Soffe's sales and administrative functions. That consolidation is scheduled to begin immediately. Laid-off employees will be considered for open positions in these areas, as well as have transfer opportunities at other Delta facilities.
