University Of Regina, St. Francis Xavier University, and HTC Purenergy Inc. have signed a memorandum of understanding to introduce innovative 'measurement-monitoring-verification' ('MMV') technologies developed by StFX's Dr. David Risk in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, at carbon capture and sequestration ('CCS') projects around the world. Existing CO2 EOR projects in South Eastern Saskatchewan, such as the International Energy Agency GHG Weyburn-Midale CO2 Monitoring & Storage Project, would be good candidates for the demonstration and commercialization of this technology.

University Of Regina announced that Vianne Timmons has been appointed as the seventh president and vice-chancellor of the University. Timmons, who will assume her new duties on July 1, and takes over the reins from current president Jim Tomkins. Timmons has served as the chairwoman of the education department at St. Francis Xavier University and the first woman dean of education at the University of Prince Edward Island. Timmons, who is currently the vice-president of academic development at the University of Prince Edward Island.

University Of Regina announced that Bruce Anderson has been hired as the new director of the Centre for Management Development and given a mandate to teach students and serve businesses in the process. Anderson-a veteran player in the Regina business community who earlier in February assumed the director's position at the management development centre, which is affiliated with the faculty of business administration-said students and businesses both can benefit from the centre's programs.
